After a brilliant September which saw us win every game and keep a number of clean sheets we started October by being brought back down to Earth following a heavy defeat to AFC Wulfrunians. This was followed by another tough away fixture at Stuourport Swifts where I was more than pleased with the reaction of the lads to get us back on track with the 3 points. The lads showed tremendous character and took everything on board that was missing from the defeat, Stourport look to play out from the back so our game plan was always to press high and not let them get out which is inevitably where the goal came from, and what a goal it was, worthy of winning any football match.
Today sees us back on home soil but with yet another tough fixture against an inform Lichfield side. Every side we have come up against from last season have clearly improved their squads and I think it’s important to remember that we are a brand new squad with only 7 players from last season. That being said I’m really pleased with how the side is gelling and coming together but we are still yet to see the best from this team of players and I’m excited to see what more there is to come, starting with todays game.
Special mention to our Groundsman/Kitman Mark as I think you will all agree that the pitch is looking fantastic, thanks for all your hard work!
